Bittern Class (Year R & 1)

We are the Reception and Year One children and we currently have 29 pupils in our class.  We are taught by Miss Kemp, Mrs Custance is our teaching assistant.

"My name is Miss Kemp and I am Bittern’s class teacher. I have a passion for Early Years and KS1 with all the exploring, learning and fun we have. I have a master’s degree in Costume Design and Making, I love to make links to the arts in my teaching. I grew up in sunny Sheringham, Norfolk and I love to go and visit my family on the weekend. In my spare time I love to bake, go for long country walks and watch movies."

Together, we believe working as a Reception/ Year One class is a fantastic mix! We often work together. The Reception children benefit from being around the Year One children and the Year One children love sharing their learning with Reception children.

We have a wonderful outdoor area which is now fully astro-turfed, meaning we can use it all the year round. Our Trust and the Friends jointly paid for our climbing equipment, which we love! It helps us build co-ordination, balance, strength and agility. We have recently taken delivery of a new, outside roleplay kitchen/ shed and the Friends have kindly just bought us a beautiful outdoor reading arch. We believe strongly in learning through child-led exploration, balanced with directed teaching.
